LODGE BARTENDER

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

·        Verify identification and age requirements of customers

·        Mix traditional and creative cocktails

·        Process payment from customers

·        Clean glasses and bar utensils

·        Make suggestions based on customer tastes and preferences

·        Record and balance cash receipts and prepare cash deposits

·        Open and maintain tabs throughout their shift

·        Build a rapport with regular customers to create a positive atmosphere

·        Welcoming and sitting diners comfortably in the Social Quarters, if no server or wait staff assigned to Social Quarters

·        Taking customers' drink orders or taking food and drink orders, if no server or wait staff assigned to Social Quarters

·        Verify identification and age requirements of customers

·        Collaborating with the kitchen and other staff for prompt and correct delivery of orders

·        Memorizing the menu and recommend appetizers, meals and drinks

·        Delivering a memorable experience by resolving all customer issues promptly

·        Maintaining and projecting a positive and pleasant attitude with and in front of customers at all times to ensure a memorable experience

·        Assisting with the tidying of tables and clearing leftovers, if no server or wait staff assigned to Social Quarters.

·        Keeping the Social Quarters clean, neat and pleasant

·        Setting tables and rearranging the Social Quarters to accommodate larger groups, if no server or wait staff assigned, and prepare the restaurant for special events

·        Assisting servers and wait staff in ensuring restrooms are clean, neat and pleasant prior to opening

·        Ensuring bar area is stocked and ready prior to opening and ensuring items are restocked during shift as needed

·        Making dated list of any items that are low or out for reordering purposes

·        Any other duties as assigned by the Social Quarters Manager, Lodge Administrator, Supervisor, or Board of Officers

 

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

·        Be at least 21 years of age

·        Prior experience in a food-serving establishment preferred

·        Excellent written and oral communication skills

·        In-depth knowledge of beverages and different types of cuisines

·        Highly developed interpersonal skills

·        Basic bookkeeping knowledge

·        Working knowledge of point-of-sale (POS) systems

·        Ability to work well under intense time pressure

·        Dedication to on-time arrival for shifts

·        Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and carry trays, plates and smallwares

·        Available to work a variety of hours, days and shifts, including weekends

·        Ability to safely transport food or beverages to a table of three in a single trip

·        Polite and hospitable attitude

·        Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations

·        Knowledge of mixology for traditional and creative cocktails

·        Understanding of unique and complementary flavor pairings

·        Impeccable customer service and social perceptiveness

·        Ability to evaluate customer satisfaction and responsiveness

·        Ability to enforce company policies regarding the consumption of alcohol

·        Accountability in maintaining inventory and processing payments

·        Physical ability to stand and walk for long periods of time

 

SALARY EXPECTATIONS

·        South Dakota Minimum Wage or higher depending on experience

 

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

·        Required to be or become TIPS (Training for Intervention ProcedureS) alcohol certified and maintain certification

·        Required to be or become ServSafe Food Handler certified and maintain certification

This business was leased from Jerome Aberle of Aberle Well Company. Gregg worked for Jerome from 1975 until 1984. While leasing the business, it was called Aberle Well Services. The business was purchased outright in 1998 and was renamed Gregg's Drilling and Excavating. 

Meet the Business Owner

Gregg grew up first in Minnesota and then Mobridge, SD. He began working for Jerome as a well driller right out of high school. Throughout the years, experience taught him the lay of the land for mid North through mid South Dakota.
